Holiday Programs
Happy Holidays! Celebrate the season with Broward
County Library by attending holiday programs at
many library locations. Programs are free unless
otherwise noted.
Live musical performances include:

Dec. 7 - Start the month by
attending the performance of "Jingle Jazz
Tis the Season to be Swingin'," with the
Gold Coast Jazz Society Band, featuring vocalists
Lisanne Lyons and Mel Dancy, at 7:45 p.m. at the
Main Library Auditorium.

Dec. 10 - A Holiday Concert
will be given from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the South
Regional/BCC Library. Parents can enjoy the concert
while youngsters shop at the Candy Cane Corner
at the library and make holiday cards.

Dec. 16 and Dec. 17 - "The
Chocolate Nutcracker," an African-American
perspective on the traditional holiday tale, will
be performed at 7:30 p.m. at the African-American
Research Library and Cultural Center. Tickets
are $15 for adults, $10 for seniors and students,
group rates available. Call 954-792-3700. The
program is sponsored by Ashanti Cultural Arts.
Several events will focus on
Kwanzaa:

Dec. 3 - Dr. Maulana Karenga,
the creator of Kwanzaa will discuss "King
Tutankhamun and the African Character of Ancient
Egypt: Beyond the Mystification and Falsification
of History" at 7 p.m. at the African-American
Research Library and Cultural Center. Call 954-625-2845.

celebration of creativity offers the launching

Dec. 17 - Enjoy a pre-Kwanzaa
family holiday celebration with dance, entertainment
and African-American heritage storytelling from
noon to 2 p.m. at the Pompano Beach Branch.
Children can participate in holiday
activities:

Dec. 14 - Make a Gingerbread
House at 6:30 p.m.at the Hollywood Branch.

Dec. 17- Voices will be heard
at the holiday sing along, with Teresa and James
Walker, from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Hallandale
Beach Branch.

Dec. 14, 28 - Make a holiday
craft from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Sunrise Dan Pearl
Branch.
