the month of March, you can learn about Women's History Month,
listen to nationally known authors at the Day of Literary
Lectures, submit a message for the Breast Cancer Tree of Love,
listen to great local music, participate in Anime Fest III,
or visit a Northern Ireland art exhibit. There is always something

March is Women's History Month. Broward County Library offers
an array of interesting programs, book discussions, and displays.

Literary
Feast 2005
Literary Feast is a two-day celebration of literature
offering an exceptional mix of literary, social, and educational
elements. The events attract a large audience and monies raised
go toward breaking the cycle of illiteracy by supporting literacy
programs through the Broward Public Library Foundation and
the Sun-Sentinel/WB39 Children’s Fund. Nova Southeastern University
is the title sponsor.

Margate
Catharine Young Branch Rededication
On Friday, February 25, the Margate Catharine Young Branch
held a rededication ceremony. The branch reopened after a
complete renovation and expansion adding 5,000 square feet
for a total of 15,000 square feet. The renovation is part
of the $139.9 million library bond issue approved by Broward
County voters in 1999. The improvements include new fixtures
and refurbishing of public areas, new computers, new air conditioning,
and an enlarged parking lot with new lighting. The exterior
also received new landscaping and sidewalks with a connection
to the nearby senior center.

Anime
Fest III
Join us for the third annual Anime Fest. This year features
Japanese animation not shown on American television including
Chrono Crusade, D.N. Angel, and GetBackers. For more information,

Troubled Images: Posters and Images of the
Northern Ireland Conflict by the Linen Hall Library in Belfast,
Northern, Ireland on display at Alvin Sherman Library,
Research, and Information Technology Center at Nova Southeastern
University, a joint-use facility between the Broward County
Board of County Commissioners and Nova Southeastern University.

The
Breast Cancer Tree of Love
If you know anyone who has experienced breast cancer, whether
past or present, you are invited to write down a message of
love and support to that person. The messages can be dropped
in a box at the Main Library and will be displayed on the
tree for the month of March.

Children's
Reading Festival

This year's Children's Reading Festival will
take place on Saturday, April 16 from 10 am to 5 pm and Sunday,
April 17 from noon to 5 pm. The theme is Once Upon a Fairy
Tale...A tribute to Hans Christian Andersen.
The featured performers include Storyteller
Antonio Rocha, Jim from The Animal Band, and That Puppet Guy
Lee Bryan.
Pan African Bookfest and Cultural Conference
The third annual Pan African Bookfest and Cultural
Conference will be held April 18 - 27. Programs will take
place at the African-American Library and Cultural Center,
2650 Sistrunk Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale, as well as at other

Dr. Bob's Musician's Coffee House
Experience fresh, live music at Dr. Bob's Musician's
Coffee House, Saturday, March 19 from 1 to 4 pm at North Regional/BCC
Library, 1100 Coconut Creek Blvd., Coconut Creek.
For over ten years, Dr. Bob Blake has produced
a monthly musical variety program at North Regional/BCC Library.
A collection of musicians from the past ten years will perform
live.
